Summer is coming to an end. Preschool starts in a few weeks and soon, the neighborhorhood kids will feel comfortable enough to start sitting on our porch again as they wait for the bus. The air is getting cooler, the humidity is down, and all the stores are putting their summer clothes on clearance. Aunt Nan's headed back to Mexico and Aunt Alex is starting classes. It's nearing the end of a season in many ways.
Eden will be going into the 4 year old class this year at preschool, marking the beginning of her *last* year of preschool. Let's not dwell on that thought...makes me wanna tear up just typing it!
Isla is now TWO and we're praying that means she'll be able to potty train soon. Potty train....my baby! She's had an explosion of talking in just the last week and is trying to say more and more, which of course we love!! She passed her recent hearing test with colors. We won't say they were flying, as in one ear she wasn't hearing 100%, but the audiologist said this was so tiny and the right pitch, that it could still be simply a result of her being slightly developmentally behind. Her 2 year check-up went great! We got back the results of her chromosomal analysis (karyotype) in May, which came back normal and negative for Turner's syndrome! She still has an appointment to see genetics in October, but her doctor is certain at this point that the appointment is purely precautionary. She was released from physical therapy in February, but has just started occupational therapy. Which for those that don't know, is basically therapy that assists her with social and other developmental areas not covered by physical or speech therapies. At least that's my non-professional, mommy definition. Ha! We like the new occupational therapist and so we hope this goes well.
Our doctor's office is now carrying the flu vaccine. Can you believe that? It's time for the flu vaccine already?!
Eden just had her very first (and hopefully last!) filling at the dentist. She was SOOO brave. The dentist's office was so good that she still doesn't realize that she had to have THREE shots in her mouth. They called it "sleepy juice" and she just thinks it stung a little. She didn't shed a tear and didn't whine or complain a bit. She was a stellar patient and the dentist and hygienist were even impressed and bragged on her. From beginning and end, her only goal and concern was "Will they give me some more of the bubble gum toothpaste?" A girl's got to have her priorities, right?! :0)
As summer comes to an end, I'm reflecting and feeling like we've done a lot of fun things this summer....
~TWO trips to the zoo, including one where we took a friend along for the first time!
~Numerous trips to the pool
~Tuesday night family food and swim nights at mom's house
~Trips to the park
~Sprinkler fun
~4th of July celebrations (yep, we had more than 1!)
~Family birthday celebrations including Isla's 2nd!
~Multiple trips to the library and Eden's 1st completion of the summer reading program :0)
~After church trips to Orange Leaf for frozen yogurt
I'm feeling blessed that dispite it all, we've been able to have fun and enjoy our little princesses and get a sun tan along the way. :)
