We were watching my favorite Olympic event the other night...figure skating. I don't know why, but it's always been fascinating to me. Despite the fact that I've never been able to skate on ice or otherwise (even cracked my tailbone once!), I've always loved watching it. I've secretly wished that I too could fit into one of those small spandex messes of sequence and twirl around on the ice.
I was enjoying watching when Eden came into the room and I was delighted to share with her something I thought she too would enjoy. I pointed at the tv and began in my quest to get her excited about the event as well. "Oooh, Eden...look! They're skating on the ice! Isn't that cool?"....She looked. She paused and then came the gasp. "GASP!"...I knew it, she was going to think it was awesome and we were going to have this lovely moment of mother-daughter bonding over my favorite olympic event. She was excited alright. "Mama! Princesses on ice! I'm going to see dem (them)! In March! The princesses! What's her name? Which one is that, Mama?" LOL I had some explaining to do!
Why is it that I never remember her time line clearly isn't developed? Telling her we were going to Princesses on Ice has been her favorite topic for days now and little does she know we're not going until March 26th. She's sure to let everyone know that she's going and that it's the same month as her birthday.
She's so much fun. I love her so much and I can't possibly imagine my life without her little soul in it. I try to imagine what she'll be like in 10 years when we could be having a talk about something less than stellar like menstrual cycles or boys, but I try to remind myself to live in the moment and for now that moment is princesses on ice! :)

LOVE that you love your little girlie so very much! And I'm glad you remember to savor each moment - she's growing fast and you've caught on quick to the importance of appreciating the small things in her life. You're an awesome mom!
