We decided to go to Great Wolfe Lodge near Cincinnati for the weekend. We left Friday night and came back today. We added a day trip to the zoo, though to our surprise GWL was PLENTY all by itself! We could have stayed there for everything. They have a ton of stuff to do for little ones!
Eden was so good and had a lot of fun. We started out the trip and the entire day as we were packing Eden kept randomly saying "Cincinnati". When asked why she was saying that she'd say "I just wanted to say it"...I think she thought it was a fun word to say. lol
We got going a little late (surprise surprise) and so when we got in around supper time we hurried to get a bite to eat and get changed into our swimwear to check out the water park. After dinner and the water park we came back to our room to bathe Eden. I started her bath water and she climbed in. As she did, she looked up at me and said "So this is gonna be our new home?" LOL! I guess because she knows we've been looking at houses and we're getting ready to move, she thought GWL looked like a pretty nice place to pick! lol Soooo cute!
Even Isla enjoyed the pool! She loved the splash pool where the water was only about 2.5 inches deep. It was perfect for her and splashing, of course! She looked awfully cute in her little suit and sun hat!
The only downer was that my camera decided to go on the fritz. I did get a few pictures intermittently and bought a disposable camera (been YEARS since I've done that!) to catch what I couldn't with the digi. Looks like it's time for a new digi. Just gives me a good excuse, since I've been asking for one for some time and Christian keeps telling me ours is "fine". I think he now agrees since unfortunately we missed some pretty good water slide shots.
Eden was a water slide pro! She was going down the water slides that were what I considered "medium". 8-12 year old kids were going down them. They weren't big and they weren't the smaller ones in the toddler area, but medium and she loved em! She went down those a few times and the toddler ones a HUNDRED.
The zoo on Saturday was MISERABLE. 86 degrees...WHAT were we thinking? I was miserable, Isla was definitely miserable, and I think Eden wasn't too excited towards the end either. We stayed about 3 hours and the last half hour we were all on edge. Eden did enjoy the reptiles. Oddly - that was her favorite part! She got to pet and hold and spray water (so they'd keep cool) on some pretty big turtles. It was neat and I did manage to get some decent pics of that. :0)
All in all, it was a wonderful trip! Tomorrow we have cook-out and graveside gathering with Christian's family. (minus his parents and younger siblings who are in China)
