10.6.10

These are the days of our lives...

Yesterday was quite eventful to say the least!  Got my new shower curtains in for the new house.  *squeal*  I'm doing the girls' bathroom in pink/green.  It's kind of a mint green and all sorts of pinks.  I think it's gonna be really cute!  I think I'll paint it like a khaki neutral color.  Our bathroom is going to be done in sage and painted a really light gray.  Sounds kinda yucky, but it's not!  Got both of the curtains online at wal-mart for like $10/piece, which I thought was pretty good.

Back to yesterday's events...Isla had speech therapy from 9a-10a.  She loves her speech therapist and so do I.  She's the sweetest and really good with Isla.  I feel bad when Eden is at home when she comes though - as poor Liz is always bombarded with conversation from the 3 year old that thinks "Ms Liz is my friend".  lol I try to explain to Eden that Liz is there to "help Isla talk", but that doesn't help.  Yesterday - between the fed ex man, Eden, the dog whining to play with Liz too, and a surprise home inspection (FUN) - Liz was a trooper!  I'm sure she wanted to be out of our house as quickly as possible! lol

I started laundry, unloaded the dishwasher, and fixed some lunch.  Then spent a little while filling out preschool applications.  Hannah came to visit and Eden through a colossal fit when she left - as it was nap time.  She kept asking poor Hannah to "hold me for a few seconds".  Lol - Hannah finally got out the door unscathed and probably with a good dose of birth control and pity for her old sis.  :)

I put both the girls down for a nap and was feverishly making phone calls to preschools and trying to arrange tours when I hear *THUD*.  I got up and made a mad dash to Isla's room...sure enough a Mommy's worst fear - She had FALLEN OUT OF HER CRIB!!  Yep.  You read that right, I just won Mommy of the year.  Apparently she can now pull herself not only to a sitting position but enough to a standing position to get over her railing!!!  She cried so loudly and hard that she woke up Eden, but I honestly didn't care.  I was too busy inspecting her from head to toe making sure she hadn't broken anything!  I felt like CRAP!  Poor girl!  Lowering the crib - certainly a priority now.  FAIL!!  That'll definitely go down in the books as one of the worst Mommy moments! :(

Just when I thought the adventures were over - Daisy peed in the bathroom and that alone wouldn't be bad, but on the clean bathroom rug.  Not enough fun in itself so I had to go and step in it barefooted.  LOVELY.  Just after cleaning that up - set Eden up with Tinkerbell resting.  I did manage to go through the hang-up clothes in my closet and get rid of all the ones that I've been hoping to fit into again.  I tossed them into the Good Will bag with an attitude of "by the time I'm skinny, you won't be in style anyway".  Perhaps not the most positive of attitudes, but I later thought maybe I'd then be inspired to get my butt in gear, knowing if I do lose weight...I'll have to go shopping! lol

Fed Isla - apparently too much, as she proceeded to spit up formula all over me.  Changed my clothes, did some more laundry that was now especially in order and awaiting the arrival of my knight in shining armor...aka Christian.  :)  He came home and I headed out the door to look at dance picture proofs.  I looked a hot mess, but didn't care! lol

Got to dance studio and spent an hour trying to decide which precious pictures were truly reflective of our dance experience.  Fortunately, none of them looked representative of her recital performance...the one she didn't do! LOL  They were adorable and I came out a pretty penny poorer.

Got home and Christian grilled out chicken and corn on the cob.  Eden complained that there were too many "hairs in her corn".  lol Christian then sliced up a watermelon for us to eat for dessert, but not before trying to cut his finger off!  Literally, I thought I was going to have to take him to the ER for stitches.  It seemed to never stop bleeding, but we finally got it to mostly stop and I played nurse with some peroxide and bandages.

WHEW....after that we did baths and bed and by the time I packed up things for "sprinkler day", packed my lunch, and laid out clothes for today it was 11:30p.  Christian was still awake and working when I went to bed.

Isla woke up around 3am and I brought her to bed with us.  She NEVER does that.  After an hour of not really sleeping I made her a bottle and she sucked it down.  She took another 45 minutes to fall asleep and by 5:00a I decided to reset my alarm for 20 minutes later to get some extra sleep...so what if I went to work looking a hot mess, I'd be functional! lol

Woke up this morning with a near migraine, but seem to be better now that I've eaten, caffeinated and managed to avoid doing anything too stressful.  I suppose the break I've taken to write this novel should now be over! Back to the grindstone!
