Daddy - the expert Kite Flyer

Admittedly, my husband and I had very different childhoods.  It's a bit dramatic to say that his was "country" and mine was "city", but it at least leans to differentiate that way.  He relished in things like long walks, exploring caves, walking railroad tracks, flying kites, and building forts while I was busy naming baby dolls, drawing with sidewalk chalk, riding my big wheel, and playing on the swingset in the back yard.  (Wow, makes my childhood seem pretty lame, eh? LOL)  It probably has some to do with our personalities and some to do with the boy/girl difference in interest of play.  Anyway, one of the things Christian so enjoyed in his childhood was the above mentioned kite flying.  Apparently, he was a bit of a "kite afficianado", if you will.  During at least a period of time he remembers having several kites of different shapes and sizes.  He has fond memories of a kite with a 40 foot tail and a homemade kite he crafted out of newspaper with his father.  He's long awaited the day when Eden would be old enough to enjoy flying kites with him so he could rekindle these childhood memories with her.  Last year we flew a mermaid kite and though she did enjoy it, she seemed to really love it this year.  These last few days have been extra windy and so the perfect season for kite flying!  To Christian's delight, Eden was given a new Barbie kite for her birthday (thanks Angie & Grandpa Scott!).  So off we went to the park to fly her new kite!  The weather was perfect and she really enjoyed it!  So you'll see from these pictures!

Getting started was a little rough.  Daddy found a knot which led us to 20 minutes in the back of the van to get it untangled.  That Daddy, he's a determined one. lol

My favorite! <3

OK, so I never claimed to be a great photographer...note finger on the edge. LOL  It was bright, ok?  I couldn't resist putting this one on here, as I love her facial expression!

And Isla's favorite part was RUNNING! :0)

And because Mommy was more interested in how cute the kite was, we had to pose with it afterwards.  lol
