I'd be wrong to go without blogging Eden's story of sacrifice...nay, a glimpse of maturity today.
She went on an errand with Aunt Al today (aka my sister Alex) and while getting into my van in the garage she "found" a present I had actually purchased for her birthday in March, but decided not to give her. I had it in a box of things yet unpacked (gasp!) for a rainy day treat or another gift occasion. She found a little Barbie Vet Dog. If you're not a girl Mommy, you might not be up on the toy. It's a dog that comes in a carrying case with a vet kit. Not only that, but it makes cute little whimpering sounds and panting sounds, and is generally pretty cute and cuddly. She found it and Alex let her have it, not really knowing it wasn't to be had and you know, once it's found, there's no point. So she's packed it around all day. She even named it...Lisa. Clearly she didn't get my naming gene! lol I filled out the little certificate and she's been entertained with it most of the day. So tonight it was time for bed, I was cleaning up supper dishes and Christian was putting Isla to sleep upstairs when Eden, dog in hand, goes bounding up the steps. I yell to her, "Now, Eden - leave Daddy alone. Don't go in Isla's room - he's trying lay her down for the night". She continued up the stairs and I just shrugged it off thinking either she hadn't heard me or didn't intend on listening and either way, I was too busy to care. lol
We sit down at the table and are talking about our day with Christian and I tell Eden "Hey- did you tell Daddy about all the cool treats you got today? The dog and you got to go to PetSmart to visit the real dogs with Aunt Alex..." Christian chimes in, "Ohhh the dog? Is that the one you gave to Isla?" Eden shakes her head and I ask.."Gave to Isla?"...Christian tells me that she'd heard Isla crying and ran upstairs to give Isla her dog to sleep with. *sniff*
Of course we showered Eden with praise for being so kind to her little sister and it was the icing on the cake when Eden said "Yeah I did that cause Isla's my best friend"....*melt your heart*
Proud Mommy Moment Alert...in case you didn't hear the siren going off! lol
