Daddy Dreams Big

My beautifully and wonderfully made other half has had a tough year.  Through his obstacles he's grown so much and become even better.  One of the things he's been doing more is dreaming.  He's discussed making a "dream board" for several weeks now.  A "Dream Board" is an area where you hang up pictures of things you're dreaming of, goals you're setting.  He's been very goal oriented lately and focused with taking what might have seemed like a valley in our journey and turning into an opportunity.  He's seeing it as an open door.

Since we're tight on funds and ya'll know how I like to be crafty, I figured the perfect Father's Day present was a "Dream Board".  He's working from home and starting his own Graphic Design/Printing Business sort of from scratch again and so he's getting quite a bit of use out of our home office.  I figured that the office would be the perfect location for said dream board.  So here is the finished product....

The top reads "Daddy Dreams Big" and the writing at the bottom right hand corner is Jeremiah 29:11 "I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord.  They are plans for peace and not disaster, plans to give you a future filled with hope."  Such a powerful verse and I thought it was appropriate.  I didn't want to make it look too awfully "girly", but couldn't resist the ribbon at the top.  It will, after all, have some of "our" dreams....so had to have a little decoration.  hehe

All of this "dream board" stuff got me to thinking about dreams, goals, and our aspirations for the future.  In light of Father's Day, I can't help but relate this to how a father dreams for his child.

A Father Dreams

Oh how a father dreams.
A father dreams of health, comfort, and peace.

A father dreams of his children  happy and how they'll grow.
A father dreams of a better time, a better pay, a better life along the way.

Oh how a father dreams of respect, equality, and opportunity.
A father dreams his children will see everything he didn't see.

A father dreams his children will miss the suffering or sorrow he had.
A father dreams that his children will never be sad.

Oh how a father dreams his children will never feel alone.
He dreams they'll be and do all he didn't do.

A father dreams he'll one day see his children and they'll be grateful that they had him.
A father dreams he makes the right choices on their behalf.

He dreams they'll grow to know and honor the Lord.
A father dreams they'll know true love, not through himself, but God above.

Oh, how a father dreams.

I'm so immensely proud of a husband who not only dreams, but dreams heavenly.  Sure, it tickles me pink to know that my beloved other half is dreaming up mini getaways and planning for vacations.  And don't get me wrong, I love him more for being concerned about our children's future.  I just know that the best thing about him by a long shot is that I know he prays for them.  I know he dreams big for them.  He not only dreams about us going to Great Wolf Lodge (don't laugh - at our stage, that's a dream right now! LOL), but he dreams of the best schooling, wonderful vacations, and lives filled with sexy godly men.  (OK, I added the sexy part)  What touches me most is that he dreams that one day, despite our downfalls as parents that they'll realize just how beautifully and wonderfully made they were and they'll know who deserves all praise.  I love him because he loves them enough to pray that they'll love HIM.

So, today on father's day, I thank God that I'm able to talk about the father of my beautiful girls when I say "Daddy Dreams Big"!!
