A few weeks ago (OK, so I'm a little slow posting, sorry!) we needed a plumber. We had a leak in our ceiling that appeared to be coming from the piping that lead to our dryer vent. The plumber showed up to check it out. Two of them were there and in our laundry room when Eden awoke from her nap. She was curious as to why there were two large men pulling our washer and dryer from the wall. I tried to explain simply that these men were here to help us with our bathroom (our guest bath also had a problem with the toilet) and to fix our piping with the dryer vent. She looked puzzled still and I told her "they're plumbers, so they fix bathrooms." That seemed to make sense and she headed to the laundry room to check out their work. I cautioned "Eden, don't bother the plumbers. You can watch, but please stay out of their way, honey." Just then, I heard "Can you please come into this bathroom and fix the potty?" I'm two rooms away and start heading there only fearing what she'd have to say about the potty in her bathroom. The plumbers must have asked what the matter was with the toilet because then she proceeded to embarrass her mother to DEATH.
Eden: Yeah, the toilet seat is broken.
Plumber: Oh? What's wrong with it?
Eden: My mommy sat on it.
Plumber: *explosion of laughter*
I couldn't get Isla's diaper on fast enough. I had to reclaim my dignity...explain myself! I made it to the laundry room and tried to stutter my way through the reclamation of pride. "Um, yes. So, confession...I did technically sit on the toilet seat and brake it, but that's because I lean over to bathe them and then it twists...and you know what I mean. It's a cheap toilet seat." I look and he's trying to control his laughter. He just nods his head and musters a "yeah...". I walk away to him telling his plumber friend "yeah, she said that her mommy sat on the toilet and broke it". The both erupted into laughter all over again. That did it, any pride I had was squashed. lol Thank you, sweet Eden!
