Sarcasm: Lost on Toddlers!

So tonight we're eating dinner and Eden is sitting in her chair. She signals that she's done eating by beginning to bang her spoon on the edge of her tray, therefore flinging cottage cheese my way. I ask her to please stop. She ignores my request and continues banging. I jerk the spoon from her hand and say, "Well, I'm sorry you just lost your spoon. Are you done eating?". She puts out her boo-boo lip and just when I think she's going to cry she throws me for a loop. She says, "Daddy, Mommy took my spoon away!" I chuckle a little when Christian responds "Eden, you listen to your Mama." Instead of the toddler-like response I wanted to say which was "ha! I told you!" I said something that I thought was somehow less childish. "but that was a nice try...asking Daddy". She smiles sincerely and says in a sweet voice, "Oh, thank you Mama", smiling at me genuinely thinking I was patting her on the back. LOL
