So you've already heard about our trip to Kroger last night, as that was the "God Talk", but as I rummaged over the day in my head last night, I thought there were a few more things worth remembering...
I pulled into the driveway and the usual question was voiced "Mama, is it dark?". I'm not sure why she has to ask, as it's a question we get daily. I guess when kids can't tell time the light is their only definition as often among her nap protests will be "but it's not dark". I try to explain to her that naps occur when it's not dark outside. We've gone over this enough that it's now really a last ditch effort to get out of nap time. OK - that was a tangent. So I turned off the car and reached for the handle of my door when I heard that sweet little voice say quietly, "That was great to go to Kroger wiff you, Mama". Melt my heart! My eyes welled up with tears and I looked back at her. She was smiling sincerely with her little spider-like eyelashes batting as I said, "Aw, baby girl...I liked it too!"
She insisted on helping me and so I gave her the lightest grocery bag available - the bananas. She took it cheerfully and said "Ugh...oh dis so heaby (heavy), mama". She grunted the whole way up the steps to make sure her helpfulness was 'heard'. lol We got into the kitchen and she put down the bananas. Christian greeted us at the door holding a sleepy Isla and I returned out the door to retrieve the rest of the groceries. I later found out that while I was gone Eden told Christian "Dat was neat to go to Kroger wiff Mama". Christian chuckled and say, "well I'm glad you had fun, baby".
This morning her mood could have been equated to a small chihuahua. It was not far past 6am when I heard the usually pounding on her bedroom door. For some reason she's stopped pronouncing the knock. When she first transitioned into her big girl room/bed, she would
I only took the effort to remind her twice to use her inside voice and stop running. I didn't have the time or the energy and frankly, was just glad she'd woken up in a good mood. There are days when that's certainly not the case! Christian was trying to corral her and wrangle her into her blue jeans as I walked out the door. No tears this morning as she said "Have a good day, Mommy!" <3 <3
