Day 10 - A Picture of the Person You've Done the Most Messed Up Stuff With
I could have listed a few different people here. So as an honorable mention, I'd like to say that Sara, Kristin, and Becky were usually certainly involved in doing said "messed up things". Oh and of course Leslie, but she generally acted as the little guardian angel telling us when we probably shouldn't be doing something.
So after much debate in my head, I landed on Joy. My friend Joy (far left) is easily the person I've done the most "messed up stuff" with. Sadly, this is the most recent picture I have of us, February/March 2006 when we drove to Prestonsburg to see our mutual friend, April (in the middle) after the birth of her son Will. A little bit of distance and life in general has just gotten in the way of us seeing one another as much. This was pre-babies for both of us and though I'd like to have my hair back from this picture. lol
Anyway, Joy and I have always done crazy things together. We met at New Hope Baptist Church around the 5th grade, we think...though neither of us can recall. We didn't really start hanging out until high school. She's 2 years older than me and I think it's safe to say she acted as my chauffeur for 2 years until I got my license. She was my ticket to "freedom" many days. We'd load up in her red Dodge Colt and set off for adventures. We once were driving to Lawrenceburg and "nicked" another car's side mirror. It was night time and her little colt was packed full of us girls as usual and the other driver turned around and followed us! Like idiots, we stopped in the church parking lot and they even got out of their car to give us a piece of their mind, as I recall. LOL
I won't go inditing her for anything specific, but let's just say that there were many events that our parents never knew about. We'll also say that the song 'Twinkle Twinkle Little Star' will never have the same innocent memory either. :)
We also lived across the hall from one another for a few years and that was a blast. Joy immediately knew when I'd ruined a recipe for my newlywed hubby and just how wonderful I was (NOT) as a housekeeper. There was never any lack of entertainment, fun, or laughter when Joy was involved. She's got a big heart and is easily one of the funniest people I know. Some of my love of country music can probably be attributed to her forcing it upon me. Though distance and time may pass, we can still call each other and cut up and laugh about things as if we'd never missed a beat.
Maybe later I'll rummage through my old pictures and find some goodies from 'those days'. I'm sure Joy's sitting on the edge of her seat in anticipation. lol
